About Me

Hello, I’m Sophie Fews — formerly Sophie Brain — and I’m the founder of Sophie Brain Primary Tutoring.

I qualified as a primary school teacher at the University of the West of England in 2014, beginning my career as a supply teacher before moving into permanent roles as a Year 3 and Year 5 class teacher. Those years in the classroom gave me a deep understanding of how children learn, what motivates them, and how powerful personalised support can be.

As the number of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) continued to grow, I found myself increasingly passionate about providing tailored, one‑to‑one teaching. I wanted to give children the time, space, and individual attention they needed to thrive — something that can be difficult to achieve in a busy classroom.

So in 2017, I stepped away from full‑time teaching and launched Sophie Brain Primary Tutoring. And yes — I kept Brain as the business name even after getting married in 2023, because it just fits perfectly with what I do.

Since then, I’ve supported many children locally and internationally, both in person and online. My work includes:

  • 1:1 primary tutoring

  • Home‑schooling programmes

  • SEND support for children and young people up to age 25

  • Confidence‑building boosters in maths and English

  • Close collaboration with families, schools, and professionals

My approach is calm, nurturing, and highly personalised. I believe every child deserves to feel capable, confident, and understood — and that learning should feel achievable, not overwhelming.

I’ve taken two short breaks to welcome my own children, and now I’m back — refreshed, experienced, and excited to support even more young learners.

If you’re looking for a tutor who understands the whole child, adapts to individual needs, and brings both classroom experience and specialist SEND knowledge, I’d love to help your child grow.
